Workshop in Ostroh “Academic City: Visegrad Group Experience”

On the first day, workshops were held by Mariusz Sagan, Director of the Strategy and Entrepreneurship Department of the City of Lublin, and Victoria Herun, Head of the University Support Department. They focused on the following topics: the role of universities in implementing the city’s strategy, cooperation with the university as a condition for the city’s development, the development of the city’s academic potential, the benefits of cooperation between the university and the city, internationalization.


Mariusz Sagan shared the results of the city of Lublin in the field of strategic development and cooperation with local universities. As a representative of local self-government, he has repeatedly stressed that universities are ready to cooperate with the city, but it is important for them to see the desire and openness to cooperate from city authorities. Victoria Herun shared specific practices and developments that have been implemented in the field of working with students over the past 10 years.

The second day was dedicated to the presentations of the representatives of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin Michał Wyrostkiewicz and Albert Nowacki. They revealed two issues: the university as a space for social and human development, international contacts, the development and promotion strategy of the John Paul II Catholic University in Lublin, and cooperation with the city authorities and external stakeholders.


After the seminars, participants had the opportunity to join discussions with experts from V4 countires, ask questions and share experiences with Polish and Ukrainian colleagues. In addition to the discussion, the participants had a tour to museum of the Ostroh Academy and visited the art cluster.
The third day of the workshop was dedicated to working groups of Ukrainian partners and discussions.
